Four Construction Workers in Pangasinan Die in Tragic Accident on Their Way Home
What was supposed to be a regular trip home turned into a devastating tragedy for a group of construction workers in Pangasinan. On June 20, 2025, a mini dump truck carrying several workers lost control while descending the winding road of Mount Mapita in Aguilar, Pangasinan. The truck eventually crashed into the side of the mountain, resulting in a fatal accident that killed four individuals.
According to initial police reports, the vehicle experienced mechanical problems while going downhill, causing the driver to lose control. In a desperate attempt to prevent a more serious crash, the driver steered the truck toward the side of the mountain. However, the force of the impact was so strong that several workers riding at the back of the truck were thrown off, landing hard on the cemented road. Others were trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
Responders arrived at the scene and confirmed the deaths of four construction workers. Several others were injured and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Families of the victims expressed deep grief and outrage, questioning the safety practices of both the driver and the employer.
According to the victims’ relatives, the truck used was not designed to transport people, especially not on steep mountain roads. They are now seeking justice and plan to file charges against the driver, who may face multiple counts of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and injuries.
The tragedy has sparked concern over the safety of transportation for construction workers in remote job sites. Many have called for stricter enforcement of vehicle safety regulations, especially for trucks not intended for passenger use.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers faced by laborers who work far from home and often rely on inadequate transport. As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of four lives that were taken far too soon—individuals who were simply trying to return home after a hard day’s work.
